How To Foster Successful Client Relationships?
What we forget to realize is that clients are as good as we keep them. There may be some that are less than desirable naturally, but for others keeping them pleasant and happy is just about handling them well. Here are some key things that you should remember while handling clients so that you maintain a healthy relationship and nurture it further.
Identify 'Good' Clients
Good clients are not easy to get. And when you get them, keep them. The question is how do you spot a good client? Think of people who are pleasant and you enjoy working with, people who respect your business policies and ethics. They are the ones that fall under 'good' clients. These are the clients you should focus on and pay extra-attention to.
Let them know that you appreciate them and enjoy working with them. This goes a long way in making a mark in the clients' mind about you. No one forgets good compliments easily. And this is something that will win you brownie points when they are looking out for service providers for their future projects. After all, everyone likes to work with someone who likes them!
Go an extra mile to show them Appreciation
In addition to regular business attitudes and perks, go a little beyond and do things to help them. These little things would not fall under the specified service methodology but something you will do additionally from your end. If the client pays you on time, gives out regular work etc.. you might do some extra soul searching and help them with links and information that help in their business.
Talk about the Client
Don't just showcase your work, showcase your good clients as well. Make sure you feature the work you have done for them on your portfolio page. You never know how many potential clients will be impressed by the work and contact you. Not only are the client themselves are happy because their work is featured, the market audiences will also get an idea about your credibility by knowing what kind of clients you are working with.
Nurture the relationship with the Client
While good clients may pay you well on time and give you all the creative and technical liberties, but there may be slight differences in some other areas. Don't let these small issues take toll on your otherwise smooth and profitable relationship. Rather, invest quality time and work on these issues. If they require something extra, be ready to give them that but don't let the relationship go sour. Even after the project is done and finished, make an effort to keep in touch,. This will let them know that you are genuinely interested in the proceedings of their business and make you their preferred choice in future proceedings.
